Corewire moves fast, and any newsroom that moves fast will sometimes get something wrong. What defines us is what happens next. This page explains how we correct the record, and it hosts our public corrections log.
Our standard
When we get a material fact wrong, we fix it quickly, we mark it clearly, and we do not quietly rewrite history. Corrections are appended to the affected story in a labelled correction note stating what was wrong, what is right and when the fix was made. For significant errors, the correction is also recorded in the log on this page.
What counts as a correction
Corrections fix material errors of fact: wrong names, numbers, dates, attributions or claims. Updates add new information to a developing story and are labelled as updates, not corrections. Clarifications reword something that was accurate but open to misreading. Typos and formatting fixes that do not change meaning are made silently.
How to request a correction
Email help@corewire.news with “Correction” in the subject line, a link to the story and the specific claim you believe is wrong, ideally with a source. We review correction requests within 24 hours on business days. If we disagree, we will tell you why.
